Friends of Poquessing Watershed removes 53 bags of trash

Friends of Poquessing Watershed, in conjunction with the City of Philadelphia’s Love Your Park fall service day, on Saturday cleaned the area around Liberty Lane and Poquessing Drive in Somerton.

Friends of Poquessing Watershed board members organized a cleanup that resulted in the removal of 53 bags of trash.

There were 20 volunteers who filled 53 bags with trash, cans and various other debris.

Volunteers were Kaylynn Jiediecki, Kylie and Kacie Kelly, Darlene Landis, Marissa Landis, Emily D’Amico, Valerie Barraclough, Dylan Barraclough, Thomas Pomager, Nick Tarootten, Anthony Rufo, Patty Beaman, Jim Coffin, Rich Glaser, Evelyn Quinn, Brian Samph, Charles Snyder and Friends of Poquessing board members Jeanne Capone, Hans Brolinson and Mike Doyle.

Friends of Poquessing Watershed thanks McCormick Taylor Inc., a professional consulting firm that specializes in energy services, water resources, civil design, planning, environmental studies and communications for transportation development projects, for sending out a crew of their employees to help.

The group also thanks the city Water Department for helping remove the trash and debris that was collected.

The debris included three tires, a tent, CSX sign, tool box, Christmas lights, a lot of building debris, a full trash can, a safe, two lawn chairs and scrap metal.
